Closing Supervisor/ Dietary FUH




Summary Responsible for the supervision of staff,including, aides, production and utility personnel. Ensures proper assembly andservice of foods; sanitation and safety of service, and utility areas of thedepartment.  Ensures safe and efficient uses of resources. Conductsmonthly and quarterly audits to maintain quality and safety.

Essential Functions andResponsibilities:                             

Assists in the selectionand orientation of employees and oversees training of staff in areas ofresponsibility.           


Ensures proper staffingis scheduled and/or available to perform daily activities in areas ofresponsibility.


Coordinates and overseesthat daily and weekly activities/tasks are performed by staff in areas ofresponsibility.


Develops and postsemployees schedules according to department’s policy. 


Updates and communicatesjob-flow changes of positions in areas of responsibility as applicable.


Responsible for cashhandling at nights as well as maintaining the departments safe, constructingdeposits and closing the department according to safety and security standards.


Evaluates, mentors, anddisciplines patient services employees as applicable and according todepartmental policy.


Ensures that departmentis properly opened and closed per departmental security policies.


Communicates any patientrelated problems/concerns to appropriate personnel, in a timely mannerfollowing departmental procedures.


Interacts with Nursingto ensure patients’ food needs are met.


Exhibits pleasant andcheerful demeanor and maintains a helpful attitude towards employees,physicians, patients, and visitors.


Visits patients on anassigned nursing unit or area and helps ensure that every patient is visited bya member of the management or professional team at least once during theirhospital stay.


Adheres to facility confidentiality and patient’s rights policy asoutlined in the facility’s HIPAA policies and procedures.


Contributes to patientand customer satisfaction goals by providing qualityservice.         


Wears name tagidentification.


Complies with regulatoryagency standards, including federal, state, andJCAHO.           


Complies with federal,state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitationprocedures.


Maintains a clean,sanitary workingenvironment.                                                                                                 


Follows HACCP guidelineswhen receiving, assembling and distributing food supplies to ensure quality andsafety of food supply.


Completes all daily,weekly or monthly reports as outlined in the corporate policies and procedureson a timely basis meeting all prescribed deadlines.


Identifies and utilizescleaning chemicals following directions recommended by manufacturers and perMSDS sheets.


Utilizes equipment inperforming job functions according to department’s safety procedures.     


Follows facility,department, Morrison and Compass safety policies and procedures to includeincident reporting.


Follows facility anddepartmental infection control policies and procedures. 


Follows the facility’sprotocols for Hazardous Materials and Waste Program.


Adheres to EmergencyPreparedness Program.  Participates in disaster drills as appropriate.


Adheres to Life SafetyProgram and participates in fire drills as appropriate.


Responds to utilityfailures following department guidelines and adheres to Lock-out/Tag-outpolicies where appropriate.


Participates and attendsdepartmental meetings and staff development programs, as appropriate.


Reads and complies withall policies and procedures of Morrison and Compass as appropriate.


Performs other tasks asmay be assigned.          



Education andExperience:         

High school diploma orgeneral education degree (GED); or one to three months related experienceand/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability towrite routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectivelybefore small groups of customers or associates of organization.



Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units ofmeasure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability tocompute rate, ratio, and percent.


Computer Skills:

Ability to operate a standard computer, including basic use of MSapplications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry outinstructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to dealwith problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
