Clinical Coordinator Adult Psych Geriatric Psychiatry 40 hours days
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, assists in coordinating the work flow of the Adult Psychiatric unit. Ensures quality and safe delivery of care to patients in the following age groups: All ages; Neonate; Infancy; Toddler; Preschool; School age; Adolescent; Adult; Geriatric.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the clinical practice of the unit according to established standards of care and Hospital policies and procedures. Maintains staffing patterns and assumes responsibility for scheduling. Performs duties of staff nurse as needed. Maintains equipment.
Meets with Manager and staff on a regular basis to ensure effective communication. Provides feedback to employees. Identifies, recommends, and facilitates areas for continuous improvement. Acts as a liaison with other healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors. Responds to complaints in a timely manner and follows through to resolution. Resolves conflicts affecting the unit. Interprets and communicates departmental, nursing, and Hospital policies and procedures.
Mentors staff and ensures competencies and educational needs are met. Contributes to the development of other health team members. Participates on committees. Keeps current and informs staff of changes, issues, and events within the Hospital. Ensures that staff members attend inservices and other educational programs needed.
Adheres to departmental budget. Monitors utilization and ordering of supplies and equipment. Assumes responsibility for payroll as needed.
Interviews, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines staff in conjunction with the Nurse Manager.
1. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. Current license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
2. Minimum of three to five years of clinical experience in Geriatric Psychiatry.
