Athletic Trainer per diem
GENERALJOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Sports Medicine and Fitnessand with moderate supervision, the Athletic Trainer works to provide assignedcommunity and high school events with athletic training and sports medicineservices. Works closely with the Director of Sports Medicine and Fitness,physicians, physical and occupational therapists, and the Director of PublicRelations. Has frequent contact with Athletic Directors at local schools, youthleague coaches and coordinators, summer camp directors, student athletes,parents, coaching staff and physicians. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Utilizes the following domains as outlined by the NATA: a. Prevention ofathletic injuries. Recognition, evaluation, and emergent care of athleticinjuries. Rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries. d. Healthcareadministration's. Professional development and responsibility. 2. May provideeducational programs related to the field of athletic training to thecommunity. Assists and runs clinical sports medicine programs with the Directorof Sports Medicine and Fitness and physicians. 3. Uses mechanical apparatusutilized in training and rehabilitation of athletes or orthopedic patients.Maintains personal protective equipment, gloves, pocket respirator, and tapeand materials for padding, splinting, or otherwise providing support toaffected joints. May use electrical and thermal modalities in athletic trainingsetting. 4. Must be able to work with students, athletes, and coaches. Remainscalm and in control in emergency situations. Exhibits flexibility in adheringto seasonal athletic schedule changes.
OTHERJOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS: Certification by NATA BOC andlicensure by Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals. Current CPRcertification for the healthcare provider. Valid Massachusetts driver'slicense. Graduate of NATA BOC approved athletic training curriculum program.WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Carrying supplies of 50-100 pounds, sitting, standing,bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, walking, driving, transferring andguarding patients/athletes, running, squatting, etc. 2.
